Welcome to the functionalgenomics.de/gates site,
an entry page to the Genome-Matrix Database !
This site allows to go either directly to the Genome-Matrix or via different gates using other data and information sources to select and display specific Genome Matrix entries of interest.
This gate allows to access GenomeMatrix (GM) entries from Ontology terms (at present only GeneOntologies are implemented) and external datasets which have been associated with ontology terms. It is a tool to find those genes from different species in the GM, which have been mapped by one way or another to ontology terms, using the term as attribute of a gene or gene product. Only those entries in the ontology and related datasets are available as links, which have at least one corresponding entry in the GM (which relates the genomes of different species in a graphical display by calculating orthologs from the amino acid sequences using BLAST).
MalariaBase provides information about potential functional annotations for genes from Anopheles gambiae and Plasmodium falciparum (strain 3D7) in form of associated Gene Ontology terms. Data are either calculated with the OntoBlast tool or retrieved (via GenomeMatrix datasets) from ENSEMBL for A.gambiae and PlasmoDB for P.falciparum. Direct entry-points into the GenomeMatrix database and ENSEMBL or PlasmoDB are provided for all genes. For GO terms suggested by OntoBlast, existing links to the Malaria Parasite Metabolic Pathways database and pathways stored in KEGG are shown. PubMed can be directly searched for names and terms found in a query result.
